Java is one of the top programming languages that runs across multiple platforms and is used for developing a wide range of applications. In this introductory Java course, students will learn about important thinking concepts for developing computer programs as functional abstraction, the object-oriented programming paradigm, and application programming interfaces. Major topics include basic data types, conditionals, loops, methods, objects and classes, arrays, input and output, file operations, polymorphism and inheritance, exceptions and error handling, and packages and interfaces. Upon completion, students will be able to design, code, test, and debug simple Java programs. Previous programming knowledge will be helpful but is not required. The course is suitable for anyone who wants to learn a programming language for the first time.
