Solano Community College’s Firefighter 1 & 2 Certificate of Achievement will cover the principles, procedures, and techniques of firefighting and rescue. Students will be trained according to the curriculum established by the Office of the California State Fire Marshal (OSFM) and the State Fire Training Division (SFT). The curriculum will also adhere to the standards established by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). This certificate will also qualify the student to take the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) computerized adaptive test for EMT certification.


Solano Community College's Firefighter 1 & 2 Certificate of Achievement is designed as a pathway in meeting the training and educational requirements established by the OSFM, SFT and NFPA for Firefighter 1 & 2 certification and potential job employment as a professional firefighter within our region and nationwide.


The Solano Community College Firefighter 1 & 2 Certificate of Achievement can be obtained by completing the 40-unit major. All EMS courses must be completed with a minimum grade of B. All FIRE courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C or P if taken on a Pass/No Pass basis.
